Aïlien Reyns was a resident at the Beijing Film Academy as part of a cinemaster scholarship. during her stay she realised two film projects: LETTER TO AI WEIWEI and FOR THE RECORD.
LETTER TO AI WEIWEI guides the spectator through the streets of Caochangdi, a village on the peripheri of Beijing which is experiencing ever-accelerating gentrification since the (in)famous artist Ai Weiwei took his residence there.
Through this video letter, young artist Aïlien Reyns addresses Ai Weiwei with her questions concerning his artistic activism while visiting his village and its inhabitants.
